WELCOME TO THE SV BUNDESSIEGERPRÜFUNG 2015!

Welcome to the SV's Annual Bundessiegerprüfung (BSP) 2015! This year's BSP will take place in Hänsch Stadion in Meppen, Germany, running from 27th of May to 5th of July. We invite all dog sport and dog lovers to SV's celebration of the versatile working dog. The BSP is mainly centered around the german shepherds, but other breeds are more than welcome to participate as well. Will your dog become the BSP Sieger(in) taking the challenge cup home this year? We are all looking forward to an exciting gathering!

JUDGING AND PRIZES

HOW THE SCORES ARE DETERMINED
The score you get on the exercises are either determined by your depiction, story, or from an all-around evaluation of your entry/entries if the exercises are not depicted or written about. You will get a higher scores on entries you depict. For example; if you choose to make your only entry the obedience component, you will get a higher score in obedience than tracking or protection. If you make entries for obedience and protection, your scores in obedience and protection will be higher than in tracking. The score of the remaining event(s) will be based of your other entries. If you write an accompanying story for the events you don't depict, it will improve your score as long as it doesn't contain inaccuracies. If you draw all the phases and write a story for them, you can be pretty sure you have reached your maximum base score (extra entries of both the phases and socialization may heighten this as well, though). But be ware that we look for quality and not quantity when we judge.

PRIZES AND PLACEMENTS
Like in SV conformation, every entrant will be rated and graded. We will also be handing out High in Tracking, High in Obedience, and High in Protection to the dogs who get the highest scores in these phases. The dog that gets the overall highest (High in Trial) earns the title BSP Sieger 2015.

This year, the point total is 1190 :points: distributed over 13 placements.

Prize donations are much appreciated! Send a note to the Schaeferhund-Verein if you'd like to contribute with something!

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

QUALIFICATION

In order to qualify, your dog must have completed the BH test (2 images - HFL: 1 image) and at least IPO1/SchH1 (1 image). Upon registering, your dog will earn IPO2, and upon achieving a passing score (s)he will earn IPO3. But be aware; previous IPO titles may be used as tiebreakers. A dog that entered with IPO1 to begin with is more likely to be placed below a dog that entered with IPO3 in the first place.

REGISTRATION

  1. You have to be a member of the Schaeferhund-Verein to enter. This also counts for those who are entering with non-GSDs. If entering with a GSD, it has to be registered with us prior to entering.
  2. Minimum age limit is 20 months.
  3. No sick dogs will be admitted, bitches in heat will be trialed last.
  4. Leasing is allowed.
  5. Mix breeds, non-GSDs (must be listed below) and non-standard dogs allowed.
  6. No unrealistic colors and/or patterns regardless of breed.
  7. Must have completed the BH test.
  8. Must have at least IPO1/SchH1. Upon entering, a IPO1/SchH1 titled dog will automatically earn IPO2/SchH2. IPO3/SchH3 will be earned if the dog earns a passing score.
  9. Handler must be familiar with the procedures of IPO/Schutzhund.

ART

  1. No tracing, or photo manipulated dogs. No re-used/free lines or re-used entries.
  2. At least a simple background is required. You may use a photograph.
  3. You can choose to only draw one of the phases. But drawing the remaining two will improve your score.
  4. Stories are not required but they will improve your score. Especially considering the phase(s) you may choose not to depict.
  5. Handlers are not required to be visible.
  6. There are no requirements on images having to be full body, but it is recommended. Still, a well done headshot will win over a sloppy full body image.

PART A: TRACKING

The track is laid by a stranger to the dog and is 652 paces long, aged 60 minutes. There are four corner turns of approximately 90 degrees.
Twenty minutes is the maximum time allowed to work out the track.
There are 3 articles to find, and they look like the ones depicted below.

Even though tracking is pretty straight forward, we have included this video for reference. This is how a dog should look when tracking, focused, nose low.

This is how the articles will look

Working the track
79 points
Articles (7+7+7 = 21)
21 points
Total allocation
100 points

POINT DEDUCTING FACTORS
The speed with which the track is worked out is not a factor in the scoring, as long as the track is worked out intensely, evenly and convincingly and the dog shows a positive tracking attitude. Aimless wandering, a high nose, urination/defecation, circling at the corners, continuous encouragement, leash-guidance or verbal help on the track or at the articles, faulty pick-up/indication of the articles and indicating a false object are faulty and will cause point deductions. Both picking up AND indicating by sitting/laying down etc. will also cause point deductions.

PART B: OBEDIENCE

This video features all obedience components except for the long down. We recommend you to watch it if you are uncertain on how the exercises in IPO obedience are conducted. You will find a table below telling you where in the video you can find the different exercises, and what the maximum score of the exercises are.

Long down with distraction (missing part): Before the beginning of another dogs obedience exercise in phase ‘B’, the handler downs his/her dog in a spot designated by the judge, then the handler moves out of sight (in a blind). The dog must calmly remain in the down position without any influence from the handler, while the other dog is performing exercises 1 – 7. At the judge's command, the handler returns to the dog.

POINT DEDUCTING FACTORS
Forging, heeling wide, lagging, slow or hesitant execution of commands, additional commands, handler, inattentiveness, restlessness and taking steps towards handler during sitting/downing/standing, unhappy working attitude of the dog, faulty reaction to command, faulty sit/down/stand, faulty finish, slowing down when approaching handler (recall).
On retrieves; faulty pick-up of dumbbell, dropping of the dumbbell, playing with the dumbbell or mouthing, touching the or stepping on the hurdle during jumps. At the send-out, strong deviation to the side, too short of a distance, too early or hesitant lying down or prematurely sitting/standing up when the handler picks up the dog.

PART C: PROTECTION

This video features all protection components. We recommend you to watch it if you are uncertain on how the exercises in IPO protection are conducted. You will find a table below telling you where in the video you can find the different exercises, and what the maximum score of the exercises are.

POINT DEDUCTING FACTORS
If the dog remains lying or sitting, or doesn't prevent the escape before the helper has taken about 20 steps, dog is to be disqualified. Inattentiveness or bothering helper during the guarding phase will deduct points. If the dog leaves the helper before the judge gives the signal to step up or the handler gives a command for the dog to stay on the helper, dog is to be disqualified.
